Safety glass

Safety glass is thermally pre-stressed glass and is manufactured by heating it to around 700°C horizontally in an oven (lying on rollers), and then subjecting it to rapid and controlled air-cooling. This imbues the glass with a permanent stress distribution, making safety glass around five times stronger than non-toughened glass. Safety glass needs to be cut and undergo a specific grinding process before the toughening (or tempering) process. If required, holes and/or notches must be applied because they can no longer be introduced after the toughening process. Safety glass can also survive a far greater bump, strike or bending stress and temperature differences. So in general, and also during transportation, safety glass has a much lower chance of being damaged than normal glass. Should the glass break for any reason, it will disintegrate into harmless blunt fragments whose edges are not generally sharp. The breakage of products made of non-toughened glass creates dangerous, large and sharp splinters. These splinters can cause life-threatening injuries. This risk does not exist with safety glass.

This is the reason sdb International only works with safety glass for all products!!
